Through its mission, vision, and gender analysis approach, the Ministry acts to achieve the following objectives:

Promote the welfare of women in general;

• Promote and implement welfare of the child and initiate actions for the development of the child in accordance with the International Convention on the rights of the child;
• Promote the full utilization of women in the development of human resources and bring about their acceptance as full participants in every phase of national development, with equivalent and comparable rights and corresponding obligations;
• Promote responsible motherhood and the maternal health of women;
• Stimulate actions to improve women's civic, political, cultural social and economic education;
• Support the work of NGO's and play a coordinating role between government and women's organizations in the state of Puntland;
• Encourage the sense and essence of cooperative society through activities among women both in urban and rural area and stimulate/implement (in them) creative entrepreneurship in the field of small and large-scale industries;
• Work towards total elimination of all social and cultural practices tending to discriminate against and dehumanize womanhood;
