Somali conflict and its subsequent consequences such as displacement, insecurity and poverty had negatively impacted the lives of Somali women. Somali tradition normally defines the different gender roles between man and woman, however during the civil conflict the gender roles may have slightly changed. In traditional Somali, women were assigned to household tasks and other related issues such as cooking, collection of water and firewood, child-bearing, caring sick people, etc.
